Divvying up at the end of the trip

Once everyone has added their receipts and claimed their items, the trip is ready to divvy up.

Tabster nets the whole trip down to the fewest payments possible, so instead of ten separate paybacks you get one amount owed per pair of friends. From there you can pay or request right from the trip, or copy the full breakdown to send to the group.

Netting is why the total number of payments stays small. If you owe Alejandro and Alejandro owes Klara, Tabster cancels what it can rather than sending three people chasing each other around the group chat.

You do not have to wait for a straggler. If someone has not finished claiming, nudge or tag them on the trip card, or divvy up anyway. You can claim items on their behalf using the + button in trip receipts. Or you can divvy up what’s been claimed, and then mark those payments as complete. Anything selected after payments are complete will be separated into different divvy payments. So you can easily keep track of what’s remaining.

Amounts stay visible after you divvy up, so anyone who pays later can still see exactly what they owe and to whom.

If somebody settles in cash instead, mark it paid. Anything still outstanding keeps running on your tab with that friend.
